Mount Agung Trekking – Mount Agung soaring Peak 3,031 meters above sea level is the highest mountain in the Island and it became the fifth highest in Indonesia archipelago. Mount Agung also believed as the sacred mountain in Bali and it’s as a home of Pura Besakih (Besakih Temple), Bali’s mother temple. Today, we create a sunrise tour hiking up to the sacred place in Bali and also the harder and the challenging sunrise trekking in Bali it called Mount Agung Trekking or Mount Batur Sunrise trekking.
The trek up to this mountain is well worth the effort and sacrifice sleep for an incredible views and the sense of achievement you get when you arrive at the top of Bali. We crated two different route treks up to the summit; both of them are challenging and tiring. The longer trek to the higher point (actual summit) trek via Besakih Temple to western peak and the other one shorter trek via Pasar Agung Temple to the southern peak (bellow around 120 meters) last summit. Mount Agung Trekking via Besakih Temple
The long trek via Besakih Temple starts at 11.00 pm and colleting in your hotel between 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm, depeding your hotel location, entire trek takes about 12 hours. At the top of the mountain can get quite cold and windy (approximate 8 to 12 degrees) can be bellow than 8 degrees if rains. Need prepare warm jacket and gloves but it will all be worth it when the suns come up turns the sky into red, orange and become bright. As the sun getting higher to the sky, the temperature getting warm and able to gaze out entire Island, sometime you can neighboring islands such as Lombok, Nusa Penida and Java as well. Mount Agung Trekking via Pasar Agung Temple
The shorter trek via Pasar Agung Temple start at 2am and about seven to eight hours takes climbing. The trek will end at about 2.900 meters above sea level (bellow around 120 meters from the actual summit), ascend about 1.500 meters from where we start. If compare to Besakih temple route, this less challenging and less stiff but still difficult, the views from this summit still excellent in all directions, as well as view around the Island. No matter which route that you take, you will begin your climbing through the jungle and passing rocky sections near to the summit. Upon climbing to the summit either Besakih Temple or Pasar Agung temple your driver will waiting in the car to take you back to your hotel where you stay.
